PERSONALITY:
In order to understand Lambo of the future (25-years-old), it’s necessary to examine Lambo from the past, both his 5 and 15-year-old versions.
Lambo (5-years-old)
Lambo has grown immensely since he was first introduced as the hitman from the Bovino Family whose only desire was to kill Reborn and eat grapes. Back then, he was an obnoxious spoiled crybaby who liked to boss people around. His dream was to become the Boss of the Bovino Family and make all of humanity bow down to him. So, he picked a fight with the world's strongest Hitman, Reborn, and when he got hurt, he'd cry and run away seeking comfort from Tsuna and his friends. They tried to stop him before he got into trouble, but Lambo was too rambunctious and would play off one 'parent' figure with another, so he wasn't often disciplined for his bad behavior. When Gokudera took on the role of a strict older brother Lambo would often cry to Tsuna, who folded easily, comforting him. When he got very bad, even Tsuna would try to stop him and Lambo would seek out the girls or Tsuna's mom. With so many escape routes and with no single authority in charge of him his bad behavior wasn't reigned in.
Despite his age and inherent flaws, he was named the Lightning Guardian of the most powerful mafia family - The Vongola. It was a role given to him by Reborn over Tsuna's objections. But Lambo kept the title, validating his worth and putting him one step closer to his goals. The role made him an equal with the rest of Tsuna's friends who also became Guardians. The title fed his delusions of grandeur but also allowed him to survive his enemies. His young age was a mental shield that allowed him to navigate dangerous situations by giving him a false sense of bravery derived not from courage but an inability to grasp the danger he was in. Battles were merely a game to him and he tended to view his opponents as people he could play with allowing him to show no fear when the odds were stacked against him. And when his enemies attacked, he felt utterly betrayed. He would try to tolerate the pain, but more often than not, he'd run away by using his Ten Year Bazooka to switch places with his older self. The fact that his future self almost always pulled through - by the skin of his teeth - only cemented to his worth as the "The Great Lambo-san!" as he often referred to himself. But, as the young hitman starts to grow up, he starts taking shape as a worthy Guardian.
Lambo (15-years-old)
The teen version of Lambo serves as an insight into the young Bovino and allows the rest of the Guardians to witness Lambo's hidden potential. Appearance-wise, he bears an uncanny resemblance to the first Lightning Guardian, Lampo. His hair is short and tamed signifying a more tamed version of the wild child. He no longer talks about himself in the third person and is a lot more respectful to Tsuna and the rest of the Guardians, even using a -shi as an honorific for Gokudera, the Storm Guardian who he always fought with as a kid. He’s a lot more laid back, no longer moving with the rapid energy he used to as a kid. But he hasn't completely departed from his younger self. His main concerns in life are looking good and having a good time. While his younger version used to demand people play with him, the teen isn’t nearly as obnoxious. His pride, as he states, is never refusing a single invitation to come out to party (playtime). So while he's matured from his younger days, his priorities are still pretty much selfish and self-serving.
Lambo is the embodiment of the stereotypical Italian guy. He’s a self-proclaimed ladies man, but due to his deference to Tsuna's mom and the rest of the girls, he's very much courteous and respectful to them. He mostly cares about food, fashion, and style. He talks with his hands a lot and he’s got a healthy ego even going as far as calling himself "star material" which shows he hasn't fully matured yet. During battles, Lambo still expresses an unwillingness to fight and prefers to take the easy road, but when properly motivated he stands his ground. Courage, after all, isn’t the absence of fear but the ability to fight despite it. Furthermore, the teen version serves another purpose. He's there to put into perspective the state of mind of his younger self. When Reborn apologizes for treating him as a man, and Tsuna agrees, it quickly douses his tears. At that moment, he's more scared of being left behind than his opponent. Fearful that Tsuna might decide to start leaving him behind because of his cowardly display, Lambo demands that Tsuna take him wherever they go and bravely faces his opponent winning the battle. Coupled with this sentiment, when he's later asked if he thinks Tsuna has the makings of a great boss, he admits that he never thought of him as a Boss but as an older brother. This puts into perspective Lambo’s growth. As a child, he dreamed of becoming the Bovino Boss, so he joined the Vongola as a stepping stone to his goals, but as time passed he changed and so did his dreams. No longer motivated by dreams of grandeur, he no longer cares that the Vongola are the most powerful family. What's most important to him is that they were the ones who cared and took care of him.
Lambo (25-years-old)
When he first appears, no one has any idea what to expect and although his time is brief, a lot can be extrapolated by comparing him to his younger versions. The first obvious difference is his maturity and willingness to fight. He no longer acts like a coward and fearlessly faces down his enemy without prompting. His display of strength and bravery incites comparison with the first Lightning Guardian who was also cowardly but ended up leading the Vongola's vanguard. His superfluous motivations for fighting are absent and he seems in his element on the battlefield showing no fear. But, his role as a Guardian isn’t all there is to him.
For the first time, Lambo is given a history. Initially, all that’s stated about his past is his ties to the Bovino Family. When his teen version is summoned, he never gives any information about the future, not even tidbits of his daily life. However, this time, he inadvertently gives insight into the future. On seeing the Guardians, Lambo is nostalgic, implying it's been a long time since he last saw them. In his future, the Millefiore Family with Byakuran as its head was successful in taking over every parallel world including his own. They endlessly pursued and prosecuted all major mafia families that went against them and at the top was the Vongola. The Millefiore destroyed most of their enemies aside from a few loose ends and it's heavily implied that the Guardian whose sole duty was to protect the family, lost them. In an effort to protect him, they sent him away, and instead of taking damage for the family as was his duty, the family took damage for him. It can be inferred that this version of Lambo has been on the run for years having to survive on his own on the fringes of society fighting his way out of any confrontations without back-up.
And so, the little markers of the hardships he's endured become obvious. His outfit no longer bears the traits of fashion and style, but of functionality. It’s still in tone with his ties to the bull symbol so heavily tied to him, but now it’s made of heavy-duty leather. He wears a long coat made up of several patches as if it's been constantly repaired. His clothes are rugged instead of stylish depicting a departure from a life of easy living to that of hardship. Yet, it's his tone and attitude that depict the life he’s led. While the teen was laid back, the adult seems more thoughtful. His tone is calm and his words have a kind of insight to them that wasn’t there before. Furthermore, he’s no longer boastful or egotistical. Experience has taught him humility. In fact, when Tsuna and the other Guardians praise him, he becomes embarrassed where before he would have soaked up the praise. Perhaps, the biggest change is his ability to put his feelings aside and focus on his enemies. This change signifies that he’s learned to put the situation at hand first which probably enabled him to survive all these years. On the run, one doesn't have the luxury of lingering on their feelings. Another departure from his younger self is his quiet demeanor. He's a calm and collected figure whose summons carries bittersweet memories. He sounds tired as if he’s had to deal with a great burden for a while, and since Lambo is taken before the Guardians defeat the Millefiore, he remains the nostalgic, but powerful Guardian who lives in a world where he lost all who he loved.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
- Elettrico Cuoio: Electric Skin or skin that is very conductive to electricity. Due to being struck by lightning many times, Lambo built up a tolerance to it throughout the years. Electricity passes through the surface of his body with little effect before safely dissipating into the ground. He has a very high tolerance for how much electricity he can handle at once too. For example, he's struck directly by a high-powered lightning attack at the same time lightning strikes an electrical circuit meant to amplify its effect for maximum damage that would turn anyone else 'to a crisp' but doesn't phase him at all. Lambo serves as a lightning bolt to attack his enemies but also as a lightning rod to absorb it preventing others from being harmed by it. This ability makes him the perfect Lightning Guardian whose duty is to absorb any potential damage to the Vongal Family.
- Thunder Set: Horns needed. Uses horns to summon lightning and stores lightning in the horns to attack with later.
- Elettrico Cornata: After using Thunder Set, he charges his opponent like a bull He can project the electricity out to reach his opponent to attack without physically touching them to dispense the stored electricity into them.
- Elettrico Reverse: If struck by lightning, he can store it in his body and release it into the ground or attack his opponent without the aid of the horns.
- Lightning Flames. "Lightning Flames are in many ways more similar to electricity than actual flames. The special trait of these Flames, Hardening, can be employed to harden and increase the firmness of objects. By themselves, the Flames can be used defensively by projecting a solid barrier and also offensively by cutting like a sharp blade or electrocuting like actual electricity. It's also known as the toughest flame." Lambo doesn't need the Vongola Ring to bring out the full power of his flames. He's had 10 years fighting by himself with his flames as his only back-up. He knows how to use them proficiently. Lightning flames are depicted as green electric-like currents.
INVENTORY:
1) Horns: Given to him by the Bovino Boss, Lambo uses them to help him summon and store lightning used in his attacks.
2) Vongola Ring of Lightning: Allows Lambo to utilize his Dying Will Flame of Lightning that serves as a power source for his Vongola Box Weapon which he does not have here.
